About Shane: when she was born, races swam in, world records, Hobbies, History.

Shane Gould was born in Sydney Australia on the 23 November 1956, (which was the first day of competition of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games) . When she was 18 Months old she moved to Fiji with her family. She attended primary school at St. Peters Lutheran College, Brisbane where a sporting house is named after her and attended secondary school at Turramurra High School, Sydney where a sporting house is also named after her and her fellow Olympian Gail Neall. She was trained by Forbes and Ursula Carlile and their assistant Tom Green. Af ter ending competitive swimming, Shane married Neil Innes, became a christian , had 4 children and lived on a working farm near Margaret river in South Western Australia. Her marriage ended after 22 years and she married her current husband Milton Nelms in 2007. She is currently living in Bicheno in Tasmania where she is a swimming coach and teacher and she still enjoys swimming in major competitions.
HOBBIES-
In her spare time Shane enjoys reading books, going to the movies, gardening, surfing and body surfing, golfing, video production, photography, and of course she also loves pool and ocean swimming.

Shane was still only 15, a shy schoolgirl, when she did what no Australian, male or female, has ever done - in 1972 in Munich she won three individual gold medals at 1single Olympics, all of them in world record time.
